COUSINEAU's sartorial inspirations vary widely, from the streetwear style of the late Virgil Abloh to traditional designers such as Yves Saint Laurent. However, COUSINEAU was inspired mostly by what society deems as "trash" and the apparel choices of those with the least wealth and power in society. COUSINEAU aspires to create luxury fashion that embraces the aesthetics of the struggling lower classes. And the best way to do this was to use what is considered trash – plastic shopping bags. This was the inspiration for THE TRASH LIFE.
COUSINEAU created his first line of plastic bag apparel in March of 2023. His ability to design luxury clothes from discarded materials has made him a niche designer in the fashion world. The first use of plastic bag apparel was the beginning of the street-elite style – the synthesis of the trash of the street with the luxury of high fashion.
